2010

Jan. 7, Rose Bowl, Hook'em Horns

Tilde competed in Utility A at the BOTC trial in April and at the Montgomery trial in May. Four attempts and no qualifying scores.

Tilde was entered in her first agility trial in June but was side-lined with a planned litter. She whelped a litter of eight beautiful babies Aug.19th. Three boys and five girls. I was keeping one of each. The boy I named Ezra and the girl I named Viola. Puppies are such fun but lots of hard work.

Tilde got her girlish figure back and qualified for her first Utility leg at the BOTC trial on Nov. 6.

We hope to be ready to run agility again at the BOTC trial on New Years.

2009

Tilde and I went to Little Rock, AR over spring break. We were looking for that last Open leg and checking out the perspective stud dog.

Opal and Tilde spent time in the heat and humidity doing field work over the summer. Tilde is busy with transition work. Opal is training for senior.

After helping at the Birmingham Obedience Training Club's first agility trial in June, I enrolled Tilde in a foundation agility class. Tilde is having a great time. She should have a solid agility foundation under her collar before she takes time off to have a litter.

New CDX

Tilde received her third leg at the Murfreesboro, Tennessee Obedience Trial in July. Look for us in the Utility ring this fall.

Utility

First time in the Utility A ring for Tilde, Birmingham Obedience Training Club Fall Trial. We did not qualify but she sure was happy to be there. We will practice more and try again after the first of the year.

Duck Lease

We were lucky enough to go in on a duck lease in Stuttgart, Arkansas, the rice and duck capitol of the world. We had great expectations but unfortunately we did not bring any ducks home. We did have a great time regardless.

Our first trip up was during Thanksgiving. We were just amazed by the amount of waterfowl we saw the first few days. This was during the annual Duck Festival. Mack’s Prairie Wings was busy with dock diving events and the Super Retriever Series. We enjoyed visiting with old friends. Downtown Stuttgart was busy with a carnival, vendors (lots of beautiful duck calls) and the duck calling contest. We brought the three girls, Opal, Tilde and Tallulah with us. They were all excited to be there and took turns in the blind. The mornings were cool and clear. As the week went on we saw fewer birds.

Our second trip up was sandwiched between Christmas and New Years. We decided to take our grandson,Caleb, since he showed an interest in going. He too had a great time even though we did not bring any ducks home once again. He was a real trooper getting up early and walking out to the back bean field in all of the mud. It was clear and cool most mornings. The last day we hunted back on the rice field,it was very foggy, and the ducks and geese did not start to move until the fog started to lift.

2008

Spring Break, the girls and I went to Texas to the WARC hunt test. Opal received her Junior title. Tilde received her third junior pass. Spent the rest of the week at a friend's ranch tracking, playing and hanging out. Went to Ft. Worth the following weekend for the Ft. Worth shows and then headed home.

Both Tilde and Opal received their Dog For All Reasons Award at the 2008 LRC National Specialty in Newnan, GA. Tilde competed in the Hunting Retriever Bitch class, Open A obedience and the Junior Hunt Test. Tilde received her first leg towards her CDX title and qualified in Junior. Opal competed in the Open Yellow Bitch class, Novice B obedience and ran in the Senior hunt test. Opal received her third leg for her CD title.

Tilde received her second CDX leg in Jackson, Mississippi in December
